London, Aug 29 -- People in Britain are getting the chance to celebrate the quirky names of their towns and villages in a national limerick competition that is launching today.
The "Best Local Limerick Awards 2007" are inviting everyone across Britain to compose a limerick about the place where they live. There are prizes for the top limericks and the best entries will be featured on local information website Localmouth.com.
The team behind the competition hopes that it will be a lot of fun for everyone involved and a good way to get local people talking with one another. "The name of the town or village where someone lives is something that they have in common with all their neighbours," explains Matt Collins, the founder of Localmouth.com. "This is a great chance for people to get together and see what limericks they can come up with."
