Oakland's T-Mazz and L.A.'s Luna Dance win the ULMII Awards at recent entertainment conference

Twenty-four year-old Oakland rapper T-Mazz walked away with both the music and song writing "Uplifting Minds II" Awards and Glendale, California natives Luna Dance (ages 7 - 19) won the dance award at the recent entertainment conference's talent competition showcase. The two day conference offered a day of seminars and a national talent showcase, hosted by L.A.'s KDAY 93.5.

Judges included Lee Bailey, syndicated radio personality (RadioScope/Rabercom & EURWEB.com); television producer, Chris Denson (Chris D. Productions/Jamie Foxx, Academy Awards); Luenell, comedian/actress (www.heyluenell.com/Comic View); entertainment attorney Richard Jefferson (www.fjlawcorp.com); Randy Hankins, CEO/The West Coast School Tour (www.theschooltour.net); Jason Bevington, artist manager and booking agent (T.OZ Entertainment/Jon B); and Ben Foster, film producer/director (www.benfosterfilms.com).

Lee Bailey jokingly called Jason Benvington "Simon" and comedian/actress Luenell "Ms. Simon" because of their "frank" comments on the performances. There were lots of laughs as the judges help to mold and encourage the young acts.

Seminars includde "entertainment law tips" by Richard Jefferson, Esq.; "marketing/sponsorship, public relation/media and promotions strategies" by Eunice Moseley (President of Freelance Associates PR & Promotions, Promotions Director/The Baltimore Times & syndicated columnist, The Pulse of Entertainment); "working in television" by television producer Chris Denson.

"Just a short note to say thank you for giving us the opportunity to compete yesterday, even though we didn't win, it was a positive experience. We just started doing shows this year and none of us have
managers (just guidance from my mom) so we're grateful that we got advice from the professionals you had on your panel. We will certainly keep in mind everything they said. We all thank you very much...God Bless!," wrote competitor Avi the most Ill after the conference.

The "Uplifting Minds II" entertainment conference has toured with its showcasing, educating and developing of young talent for eights years in Baltimore, Houston, Atlanta and Los Angeles. Thoday the two day conference is held twice annually in Baltimore (April and August) and three times in Los Angeles (February, June and October). The conference targets up-and-coming artists, producers and executives, all net proceeds are donated to Pollution and Recycling Control Center in Baltimore.
