A multi state event designed to bring people together with their dogs and exercise.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / PRURGENT

The Dogs Across America is a multi-state event which occurs each year on a prescribed date for each state. In the South, that date is Dec. 15th of this year.

The event was designed to bring attention to the fact that 'dogs love to run' as so aptly stated by the founder of this yearly event, Daphne Lewis. The event also promotes more people getting out and spending time with their dogs and meeting their exercise needs. Any method you choose to run with your dog (or even walk with your dog) is acceptable. Scootering, bikejoring, skijoring (requires snow), canicross (running with dog tethered to waste), and carting are all forms of locomotion with your canine pal. Louisiana has an avid group of dog scooterers with the Louisiana Canine Team Builders Association which meet on the Wild Azalea Trail every year to run a relay style of the 30plus mile trail.

The LCTBA runs purebred as well as mixed breed dogs and also uses some rescue dogs in the race. Part of the mission of the LCTBA is to help find homes for abandoned dogs, especially those whose only fault is that they have a lot of energy that needs to be expended regularly - and what could be better than running them everyday to calm them down. LCTBA is an affiliate dog club of the Continental Kenne Club which promotes events, sports, and fun activities with dogs. For more information on events sponsored by CKC, visit www.ckcusa.com

If you are interested in participating in this yearly event, check out the website at www.dogsacrossamerica.org and click on your state for more information.
