Komen Houston Affiliate to Hold 3rd Annual Pink Tie Gala and Luxury Auction Featuring Actress Lily Tomlin

Whether the shade is hot pink or rose, pink ties and evening gowns are flying off the shelves in anticipation of the 3rd Annual Susan G. Komen for the Cure Houston Affiliate’s Pink Tie Gala which will be held Saturday, February 16, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. at the InterContinental Hotel. The special evening will be hosted by KPRC-TV’s Khambrell Marshall and will feature entertainment by the legendary comedienne, Lily Tomlin.

The 2008 Pink Tie Gala will honor chairs Lucia and Michael Cordúa, owner and executive chef of six Houston area restaurants including Amazón Grill Kirby, Amazón Grill Westchase, Américas, Artista, Churrascos River Oaks, Churrascos Westchase and Cordúa Catering. The Cordúa’s have been tireless advocates of the Komen Houston Affiliate for years and through their support and fundraising efforts have helped the organization to grow.

This year’s event, which is sponsored once again by Kroger Food Stores, will begin with a cocktail reception and luxury silent auction, followed by a fabulous dinner and exciting live auction. Legendary comedienne Lily Tomlin will entertain the crowd. New to the event this year is an exciting After Party sponsored by CenterPoint Energy that will be held in the Discovery Center room of the InterContinental Hotel from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. The After Party will feature music by Brotherhood, a party/funk/jazz band featuring vocalist Robert Berry, extravagant desserts and dancing.

Corporate Sponsorships start at $5,000. Individual tickets for the Gala are $350 per person. Tickets to the After Party are available for $100.

This Black tie (or pink tie as may be the case) event raised over $500,000 last year and organizers have set the fundraising bar this year at $600,000.
