IAC CORPORATE BOARD ROOM AUDIO VISUAL SOLUTION IS PROVIDED BY MCCANN SYSTEMS

McCann Systems Director of Technology, Jonathan Shor, discusses revolutionary audio visual design of IAC-InterActiveCorp board room in ARCHI-TECH magazine.

Jonathan Shor, Director of Technology for McCann Systems, an innovative design-build audio visual integration firm, is quoted repeatedly in the January/February 2008 issue of ARCHI-TECH, an architectural magazine aimed at building a dialogue between architects and system integrators. Jonathan Shor lends his audio visual insight and expertise to the discussion of audio system as a part of architectural design in the article, “The Science of Sound: Where Audio, Acoustics, and Architecture Meet”, written by Tim Wetmore and Kevin Jacobson.

In the article, Shor sites examples from McCann Systems’ AV design and integration for the IAC (InterActiveCorp) building, Frank Gehry’s first building in New York City, featuring a 10-story glass façade with contours reminiscent of the unfurled, wind-tossed sails of a ship.

In addition to creating the world’s largest 120’ x 11’, permanently installed, edge-blended video wall, located in the lobby of IAC, McCann Systems also implemented the AV design and integration of the board room. Because of the building’s revolutionary shape, resulting in curved walls that meet at the corners, McCann Systems created custom designs for the room’s AV system and the furniture. Jonathan Shor describes audio challenges and solutions in the IAC board room, including an “avocado” shaped table with built-in monitors, speakers and microphones at each seat. Shor describes how the room features two video-conference cameras plus a two projector, edge-blended projection system. The system is capable of videoconferencing, video graphics, PIP and other special effects. In addition to the boardroom, five atypical conference rooms were also finished with a custom AV solution that deals smartly with the “prow” shaped areas.
