A Monmouth County dental practice will conduct free oral cancer screenings and education. The Atlantic Center for Advanced Dentistry is a leading member of the Monmouth County Coalition Cancer Response team.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / PRURGENT

Free oral cancer screenings will be held at the Atlantic Center for Advanced Dentistry, 160 White Rd., Little Silver, New Jersey from April 24 through May 1.

Free screenings will be conducted by Drs. Michael and John Bixby, Monmouth County leading advocates of early detection and prevention practices. States Dr. John Bixby, a cosmetic dentist who is the senior partner of Atlantic Center for Advanced Dentistry, “Our goal is to reduce oral cancer mortality in Monmouth County through education and early detection. “

A Monmouth County Cancer Capacity and Needs Assessment study reports that the number of people suffering from oral cancer are higher in Monmouth County than statewide and nationally. “Lives can be saved with early detection,” says Dr. Michael Bixby. “Screening every person for oral cancer is vital in preventing the disease.” The practice is offering screenings in light of the fact that oral cancer in Monmouth County outpaces the rest of the country. “When detected at its earliest stage, oral cancer can be cured fairly easily.”

According to Drs. Bixby, a comprehensive oral screening procedure for patients at increased risk for oral cancer is highly recommended. Adults should be screened every year for oral cancer, reports Michael Bixby, DMD. Men over the age of 40 who smoke and drink more than one alcoholic beverage every day are at the highest risk of developing cancer.
