Kestrel Capital and Rita and Charles Field-Marsham, through their foundation, donated 140,00 Kenya shillings to the Mukuru Promotion Centre located in Mukuru, a district of Nairobi and home to many thousands of large families living in small settlement structures with limited resources and access to sanitation and health care.

Created in 1985 by the Sisters of Mercy, the Mukuru Promotion Centre provides children living in the Mukuru community with much needed education, health care, daily food and housing. In 11 years, the organization has grown to educate and provide food for more than 4,000 children each day; provides a residential home for street boys and orphaned children; includes a curative clinic offering free medical care as well as offers home-based care for terminally ill and AIDS/TB patients.

In addition, the Mukuru Promotion Centre is a primary centre for health education, and rehabilitation services for street children, and provides agriculture and skills training to members of the community.

Rita and Charles Field-Marsham are significant contributors to charities in Kenya, specifically in the area of health, education and community outreach. Sister Sally Mounsey, Mukuru Promotion Centre Program Manager said “You and I can only guess at the gratitude in the heart of the boy/girl who has been offered such a real lifeline to a better future.”

Kestrel Capital was founded in 1995 by Charles Field-Marsham. It is an investment bank licensed by the Kenyan Capital Markets Authority (CMA) and a member of the Nairobi Stock Exchange (NSE). Kestrel is the leading stockbroker on the Kenya stock market for foreign and local institutional investors, with a strong focus on market and company research.
