Jet Airways Wins “Apai Excellence Award” For ‘Best Full Service Airline In India’ For Year 2007

Jet Airways, India’s premier airline, has won the Excellence Award for the ‘Best Full Service Airline in India’ for the year 2007 by the Air Passengers Association of India (APAI).

March 19, 2008: Jet Airways, India’s premier airline, has won the Excellence Award for the ‘Best Full Service Airline in India’ for the year 2007 by the Air Passengers Association of India (APAI).

The Award was given away at the opening ceremony of the “2nd Civil Aviation Week- Airport and Airline 2008 Expo” on Tuesday,March 18, 2008, at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

The airline emerged victorious on the basis of a poll conducted by the association among its members through its website, via e-mails and by distributing printed forms to be deposited in a ballot box at various airports, as also aviation correspondents from across the country and frequent flyers.

Speaking on behalf of the airline, Mr. Wolfgang Prock-Schauer, CEO, Jet Airways, said, “Jet Airways is honoured at the confidence and faith our customers have reposed in us. This award will serve to further renew our commitment to providing our passengers the finest travel experience in the skies”.

In the seventeen years since its inception, APAI has supported the rights of air passengers and voiced their concerns in the corridors of power, making a real difference to the air travel scene in India.

Jet Airways currently operates a fleet of 80 aircraft, which includes 10 Boeing 777-300 ER aircraft, 8 Airbus A330-200 aircraft, 53 classic and next generation Boeing 737-400/700/800/900 aircraft and 9 modern ATR 72-500 turboprop aircraft. With an average fleet age of 4.30 years, the airline has one of the youngest aircraft fleet in the world. Jet Airways operates over 370 flights daily.

Flights to 59 destinations span the length and breadth of India and beyond, including New York (both JFK and Newark) Toronto,Brussels, London (Heathrow), Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Colombo, Bangkok, Kathmandu, Dhaka, Kuwait, Bahrain, Muscat and Doha.

The airline plans to extend its international operations to other cities in North America, Europe, Africa and Asia in phases with the introduction of additional wide-body aircraft into its fleet.
