FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / PRURGENT

University of Tulsa College of Law graduate Shannon Dodd was named the J. Will Pless International Graduate of the Year Award winner by Phi Delta Phi International Legal Fraternity. She will receive a $3,000 cash award, a winner’s key and a paid trip to Phi Delta Phi’s Biennial Convention in 2009.

The Graduate of the Year Award is named to honor Pless, a former PDP President and North Carolina Supreme Court Justice. Each of the fraternity’s 197 chapters in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Europe are eligible to nominate one member.

Dodd, a Tulsa, Okla. native, said she was honored to be nominated by the TU chapter but said she never expected to be selected from such an extensive pool of graduates.

Dodd, who served as the chapter’s magister, had a role in nearly all of the group’s events, which included new member initiation, the Kendall Court program for local Kendall-Whittier Elementary school, Ethics Week activities and several community service projects. She also was treasurer of the Board of Advocates, an articles editor for the Tulsa Law Review, the lone student representative on the law school’s Admissions Committee and a member of the Women’s Law Caucus.

Following her graduation on May 10, Dodd will now begin work at the law firm of Titus Hillis Reynolds Love Dickman & McCalmon P.C. in Tulsa.
