Leading isle businesswomen to address first Wahine in Hawai‘i Business forum – Author Chin-Ning Chu to keynote
(Honolulu, Hawai‘i — July 8, 2008) — The inaugural Wahine in Hawai‘i Business forum, presented by Hawaii Business magazine and lead sponsor Bella Pietra, is a series of workshops led by more than a dozen prominent Hawai‘i businesswomen. The half-day event is set for Wednesday, July 23, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hilton Hawaiian Village.
Chin-Ning Chu, best-selling author of “The Art of War for Women”—a modern day application of the Chinese military text, Sun Tzu’s “Art of War,” will keynote. This woman warrior is a strategist, Eastern philosopher and historian, marketer and business consultant, designer, opera singer/actress and filmmaker. She has appeared on a host of national and international venues.
Leadership, entrepreneurship, negotiation, community service, human resource issues—as they relate to women in Hawai‘i business—will be addressed. Among those presenting: Gwen Pacarro (Morgan Stanley executive director), Doreen Griffith (Grant Thornton Managing partner) Cheryl Ka‘uhane Lupenui (YWCA of O‘ahu CEO), Louise K.Y. Ing (Alston Hunt Floyd & Ing partner), Melissa Pavlicek (Hawaii Public Policy Advocates partner, National Federation of Independent Businesses executive director), and Gina Mangieri (The Cole Academy founder, KHON-2 reporter).
“Women in Hawai‘i face unique challenges in business,” says Kelli Abe Trifonovitch, editor of Hawai‘i Business. “And, like the rest of the world, the landscape of Hawai‘i business is changing. The need to attract and retain talented island women is paramount to the health of our businesses and economy.
