FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / PRURGENT

(Phoenix, AZ, September 2, 2008) Cards and scrapbooking supplies are being collected for the Phoenix Children’s Hospital during the annual Creating Keepsakes Scrapbooking Convention September 12-13 at the Phoenix Convention Center.

This is CKMedia’s thirteenth year in the Greater Phoenix area and organizers anticipate thousands of crafters in attendance for a weekend of scrapbooking, card making, classes, and shopping. This year, there’s a new addition to the convention floor.

A Chance to Give is a combination card and supply drive for the children and families associated with the Phoenix Children’s Hospital. In addition to collecting scrapbooking, cardmaking, and office supplies, the Creating Keepsakes Scrapbooking Convention will also accept pre-made, blank cards.
These cards will be distributed to the patients as well as to their families to allow them to easily keep in touch with loved ones and express gratitude to those who care for them on a daily basis.

“Phoenix Children’s Hospital has done a lot for my family over the past decade. The level of care and concern they show for their patients is unsurpassed and we just wanted a chance to show our appreciation and support for their daily dedication to children in the greater Phoenix area,” said Paula Kraemer, Vice President of Events for CKMedia.

Many people start scrapbooking to preserve memories and as a creative outlet.
“Scrapbooking can be very therapeutic,” said DeAnn Davies, Healthy Steps Program Coordinator for the Phoenix Children’s Hospital.

Scrapbooking and paper supplies afford them an opportunity to escape from the difficulties and trauma of extended hospital stays. Scrapbooking, an element of the Healthy Steps Program at PCH, gives families and children just such a creative outlet and helps build and maintain a place to document their journey.
Blank cards, products, and supply donation will all be accepted in the Phoenix Convention Center lobby during the Creating Keepsakes Scrapbook Convention, September 12-13. For a more detailed list of products needed, please visit http://www.ckscrapbookevents.com/phoenix2008/

Phoenix Children’s Hospital

Phoenix Children’s Hospital is Arizona’s only licensed children’s hospital, providing world-class care in more than 40 pediatric specialties to our state’s sickest kids. Though Phoenix Children’s is one of the ten largest freestanding children’s hospitals in the country, rapid population growth in Arizona means the Hospital must grow as well. Phoenix Children’s recently announced a $ 588 million expansion plan to bring its special brand of family-centered care to even more patients and families. The plan includes a significant upgrade of the Hospital’s current campus, an aggressive physician recruitment effort, and new satellite centers in high growth areas of the Valley.
