World Class Multiprocessor Chess Engine, New Computer Chess

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / PRURGENT

VersaGlobe International Limited has enlisted the help of top chess players and programmers to create the world's strongest chess playing program, Deep Delta (www.deltachess.info). After historic man vs. machine chess matches Kasparov vs. Deep Blue, Kramnik vs. Fritz and Kasparov vs. Fritz it is no surprise that chess programs beat world class grandmasters. Now, with artificial intelligence, opening books with millions of positions, multiple processors, endgame databases, and advanced tablebases, computer programs compete against one another for chess supremacy.

Deep Delta is being designed to run on eight 64-bit processors and will be able to analyze millions of positions per second. Programmers are using ultra-fast games against rival programs, Rybka, HIRACS, Deep Fritz and others to create "an extensive opening book that will leave Delta a fraction of a pawn ahead when it leaves book." Combined with extensive alpha-beta pruning and endgame logic, VersaGlobe hopes to beat any competitor, human or machine, with a low probability of draws.

Two advances that Deep Delta hopes to deliver to computer chess are very unique novelties (uncommon moves) in chess openings that are weighted to Delta's playing style, and dedicating processes and threads to advanced tactical sacrifices. "Using traditional openings got us draw after draw, when we began varying our openings it opened up a brand new world of computer chess." This could lead to a lot more interesting and dynamic games between computers with game theory and counter-tactics.

David Christopher, Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President, said: "We hope to code a chess program to think tactically instead of only using raw calculation. If we can achieve this, it may lead to the development of programs for games that computers are less adept at, such as poker, go, and even real time economics and market simulation."

Mass media is a term used to denote a section of the media specifically envisioned and designed to reach a very large audience such as the population of a nation state. There is now a way for mass media to become local media. VersaGlobe's website includes literature, breaking news, an encyclopedia, TV coverage, music videos and forums. They welcome all local communities to join in the world media outlet.
