90 Miles Off Broadway presents “The Case of the Murdering Microphone”

Audiences will be taken back to 1941 when they enter the Casa Mia Restaurant in Highland, NY, to be part of the 90 Miles Off Broadway production of “The Case of the Murdering Microphone,” on Friday, November 7 and Saturday, November 8, at 7:00pm, and Sunday, November 9, at 5:30 pm. (Doors open a half-hour before the show.)

Tickets are $50 per person. The evening includes a five course dinner, tax, tips and unlimited wine, audience participation, and opportunities to win prizes.

Tickets must be purchased in advance and are available at Bright Beginnings and from cast members. The last date of sale will be Wednesday, November 5th. For tickets & information, call Kim at Bright Beginnings, 845-256-9657.

According to the play's author, director and star, Joe Bevilacqua, “As soon as audience members walk in, they will feel like they are really at a live radio broadcast in 1941!”

The premise of of the play is that The Highland Murder Mystery Club is meeting to honor Poughkeepsie Pete Polanski, Famous Gumshoe, played by Bevilacqua, with a radio dramatization of his most famous case, complete with sound effects. Just as the radio drama begins, someone in the room is killed and Poughkeepsie Pete must solve the real murder live on the air with the help of the audience.

There will be will lots of laughs and performances of classic songs from the 40s, including “Ain't Misbehavin'”, “My Funny Valentine,” “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” “Blues in the Night,” and others.

“Murdering Microphone” musical director Julian Baker says, "I love this show as it allows me to play the old standards of the 40's. Truly the Golden Era of songwriting."

In addition to Bevilacqua and Baker, the large cast includes many 90 Miles veterans and newcomers--Claudia Battaglia, Steve Battaglia, Alec Cafaro, Steve Ford, Leah Frank, Lorie Kellogg, Sherry Kitay, Kim Lupinacci, Gregory Mc Elroy, Dushka Ramic, Erica Reinecker, and Steven Papp.

Plus, each night will feature special guests stars in cameo performances, including Lt. Joe Snyder, incoming New Paltz Chief of Police; Toni Hokanson, New Paltz Town Supervisor; David Dukler; New Paltz Board of Education President; and Joyce Minard, New Paltz Chamber of Commerce President, and more.
