Las Vegas-Style Christmas Show Opens in Portland

Portland, OR: Tony Starlight teams up with the incomparable Bo Ayars, formerly Liberace’s conductor and arranger, to create, in true Las Vegas-style, a month of Christmas shows. Tony Starlight’s Supperclub & Lounge will host twelve Christmas shows throughout December that combine traditional standards like “White Christmas” and “Winter Wonderland” with songs from The Grinch Who Stole Christmas and assorted Rankin and Bass animated Christmas specials.
Tony Starlight said, “Bo Ayars is an incredible asset to my show. He spent several years as music director for Radio City Music Hall’s production, ‘The Magnificent Christmas Spectacular.’ He is probably the most experienced and well-traveled music director living in Portland and in possibly all of the United States. He has performed with Elvis Presley, Bob Hope, Barbra Streisand and Bill Cosby. He spent thirteen years as music director for ‘Mr. Showmanship’ - Liberace. His level of professionalism is beyond compare and his help in creating the Tony Starlight Christmas Show will make this show shine.”
The Tony Starlight Christmas Show will include swinging jazz standards from Bing Crosby and Dean Martin, impressions of Jimmy Durante and Neil Diamond, comedy routines developed and perfected by Tony Starlight that include Frosty the Snowman getting arrested by Joe Friday of Dragnet, and a lot of Christmas cheer. The show is both silly and sweet, always well rehearsed yet still spontaneous.
The Tony Starlight Christmas shows take place primarily on Saturday nights in December during Tony Starlight’s regular performance times. There will be two shows open to minors ages 10 and above on Wednesday, December 10 and December 17 starting at 7 PM.
There will be Christmas-themed shows at Tony Starlight’s Supperclub & Lounge all through December ranging from Big Band Christmas Karaoke to jazz showcases. Some performers include Linda Lee Michelet, Mitzi Zilka, Mike Winkle, the Bureau of Standards Big Band and the Shanghai Woolies.
