New Year’s Eve Yoga and Meditation Program helps People Begin the New Year with Clarity and Resolve

Valley residents tired of the same old New Year’s grind are flocking to support a new kind of New Year’s tradition…at a local yoga studio. Instead of the usual noise, distraction, and debauchery associated with most New Year’s celebrations, this one is permeated by quiet, contemplation, ease, and intention.

Beginning at 9:00pm on December 31, people will gather at Yoga Pura in Phoenix to partake in a silent evening of yoga, meditation, and contemplation. Guided by Nationally-renowned yoga and meditation teacher Yogi E, a.k.a. Eric Walrabenstein, participants will be lead through a program designed to relax and rejuvenate both body and mind, while stepping into the New Year with clarity and resolve. “Our goal is to help people start the year off in a way that matters, in a way that supports their intentions, rather than with some meaningless diversion.” says Walrabenstein, who also is the founder of Yoga Pura.

It’s a tradition that seems to have struck a chord with Valley residents. “Although last year was our first New Year’s program, we were overwhelmed with the response we saw from the community—both in terms of attendance and enthusiastically positive feedback.” adds Walrabenstein. The program is designed to be accessible to everyone regardless of experience or fitness level.

“We’ve recognized a real hunger in people, one for a deeper sense of meaning, of living happily and intentionally.” Says Eric Walrabenstein, “And it’s helping people to make this shift that is at the heart of what we do.” And what better time than at the beginning of the New Year, so the logic goes.

The program, which will conclude at midnight, will be followed by tea, cookies and quiet conversation. So if you too are tired of the same old New Year’s thing, try ringing the New Year in with silence—and friends at Yoga Pura. Start your 2009 off with the power of calm, clarity, and intention.
