FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / PRURGENT

Loveland, CO, April 14, 2009 – Lifetree Adventures today announced an alternative to the Christian cruise – holidays that are part vacation, part Christian service. Travelers with Lifetree will be able to walk among biblical ruins and then serve in the local food bank packaging up and preparing food for the poor, or live on an Amazon riverboat cruising up the Ucayali River and then stopping at an Indian village to help build their church.

For travelers looking for a Christian vacation, but not interested in the traditional Christian cruise, Lifetree offers a new alternative: Christian voluntourism.

“Every Lifetree Adventure has two key components: adventure activities and Christian service projects—packaged into one amazing trip,” remarked Joel Fay, Lifetree President, “so you might find yourself exhilarated by thrilling zip-lines in the jungles of Costa Rica, and then take that passion and apply it to fixing dilapidated housing for young children and their families.”

Sample Christian Vacation itineraries:

Alaska Family

Volunteers are encouraged to bring their families on this journey into the Alaskan bush where they will live in a village and work alongside locals - experiencing everyday life in the Alaskan wild, and learning about their traditions. Volunteers will help with fire season preparation for local elderly who can’t do the work themselves. Life in the village is very hard, and the time volunteers spend with them, showing God’s love to these amazing people, will make a difference for years to come. http://www.lifetreeadventures.com/page.aspx?destination=2

Egypt

Volunteers will see the Great Pyramid, the only Ancient Seven Wonders of the World” still standing, ride by camel among the pyramids, walk through massive temples in Luxor, and be transported back to a time when pharaohs ruled the land. Then volunteer at the Christian orphanage in Luxor where the building is falling apart. Service there will be hands on with repair, painting and building projects and of course interaction with the kids through “Operation Kid 2 Kid” where participants will be giving the children stuffed turtles made by kids from the states during their summer VBS program.

Israel

In Israel the word “old” should be used sparingly— most of its cities’ ages are counted not in centuries, but in millennia. Israel is home to many UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and of course there is Jerusalem—a historical and spiritual home to the three main religions of the world. Volunteers will participate in various projects—from harvesting in the fields of Israel to helping with the many nationals who can’t afford to feed their families. They will also make lunches for some of Israel’s poorest school children and assist with recently relocated Jews from all over the world as they settle into their new Israeli life. Mazatlan

Volunteers will make a real difference in Mazatlan as they help build a home for a well-deserving family. Not only will they learn a couple of new skills, they’ll dig into the Mexican culture and feel at home in a suburb of Mazatlan. You’ll make new friends as you work alongside the people who will live in the house once it’s done. And you’ll take home wonderful memories of your service to people in need. It will be an unforgettable trip. http://www.lifetreeadventures.com/page.aspx?destination=4
