Grapeview, WA---May 14, 2009---DealershipForum.com has been developed for dealers who have been impacted by Chrysler’s bankruptcy filing. The website provides dealership owners and their employees the ability to communicate with fellow dealers across the country. The recent addition of “hidden” forums allows members to discuss sensitive bankruptcy related issues in a more secure setting.
Scott Hogle, President of DealershipForum.com, commented on Chrysler’s bankruptcy: “It’s been my long held position that bankruptcy was always Chrysler’s master plan. Chapter 11 provides Chrysler with the power to determine which dealers live and which ones die. Perhaps even more significant, Chrysler gets to set the contractual terms for both groups.”
Discussions between members on the website acknowledge that Chrysler could saddle their terminated dealerships with inventories of unsold vehicles and parts while forcing the remaining dealers to sign more restrictive franchise agreements.
Hogle said, “I remain hopeful that Chrysler will behave responsibly and not force their terminated dealers into bankruptcy. Many of these dealers have supported Chrysler for generations and deserve to be treated fairly.” DealershipForum members who voted in an unscientific poll didn’t share Hogle’s optimism, voting almost three to one that Chrysler would refuse to repurchase vehicles, parts and tools from terminated dealers forcing many of them into bankruptcy.
Hogle concluded, “Millions of Americans who watched President Obama believe hedge funds and speculators forced Chrysler into bankruptcy, never envisioning that Chrysler could use their bankruptcy powers to harm innocent dealers. Chrysler needs to ensure that their actions match the President’s sentiments.”
DealershipForum.com allows dealer principals and their employees to register and participate in the forum at no charge. The forum has separate sections for each major manufacturer and geographic area, allowing dealers to discuss topics unique to their franchise or their location.
