DialAFlight Announce All-time Low on Airfares to Australia

June 2009 - Flights to Australia are at an all-time low, according to travel firm DialAFlight. The price of a flight to Perth has fallen from around £810 to as little as £399 in just six months.

As well as slashing fares, airlines are offering enticing incentives for prospective travelers. US airline Delta are offering unlimited free alcohol on flights to Australia - to all ticket classes.

Qantas have already been offering free alcohol to it’s customers for some time, and are major contributors to the $3.8 million tourism drive, promising to fight hard for their market share.

“If our competitors are doing something on that route, we will match them on that,” says Qantas executive vice-president to the Americas, Wally Mariani.

As travel to Australia opens up to tourists for whom it had previously been out of financial reach, the contest for tourism dollars pervades the entire industry. Even upmarket hotels such as the Hilton are offering two-for-one deals on rooms.

Veteran agent DialAFlight have seen an upsurge in bookings in recent weeks, as the recession draws to a close and consumer confidence returns to normal.
