Expensive and unproven fertility treatments leave couples often wondering about alternatives. Natural fertility treatments are not only effective but also cost only a tiny fraction of the IVF counterparts.

The media is full of articles and reports on the enormous cost of IVF. Even the pioneer of IVF, Lord Winston recently spoke up against women freezing their eggs, warning of the dangers of expensive but unproven fertility treatments.

Natural fertility treatments not only cost a tiny fraction of the expensive IVF counterparts, but also work on the actual barrier to getting pregnant naturally. IVF ‘jumps over’ those barriers and makes fertilization possible under lab settings. Swiss naturopath and natural fertility specialist Iva Keene explains; “Reproduction may be of outmost importance for the survival of the species, but for the body, the number one priority is keeping you alive.

Pregnancy is a luxury for the body. To the body, the nutrient and energy expenditure required for growing a baby is huge. Therefore, if there are not enough nutrients present to keep your organs and systems functioning at the optimal level, your reproductive system will be the last on the body’s priority list. This is simply because it’s not crucial to your survival. This deficiency or toxin overload can result in hormonal imbalances, sperm abnormalities, miscarriages and other pregnancy complications.”

Diets rich in calories and poor in nutrients, alcohol, coffee, drugs and stress are all contributing factors to nutrient starved bodies. In addition to external factors, internal factors such as poor digestive function, food intolerances, allergies and immune deficiencies play an important role in our ability to reproduce.

“There is no question that there is a small percentage of the population who need proven medical fertility treatments. However a large number of the couples and women turning to IVF clinics these days, do so for reasons which could be addressed naturally and don’t require expensive treatments” says Iva.

Recent reports of grandparents funding their children’s IVF treatments illustrates the financial strain these treatments can pose “Maybe, rather than reaching deep into the pockets for a grandchild, they should urge their children to examine their dietary and lifestyle habits and seek help from qualified natural therapists,” says Iva.

Iva Keene is the author of the Natural Fertility Prescription program, designed to optimize couples health and fertility in preparation for conception. “Natural infertility treatments work well alongside IVF as they optimize the health of the eggs and sperm before fertilization. On their own natural fertility treatments have been shown to have a more than 80% success rate,” says Iva. The average IVF success rate for a single attempt is 25%, when combined with natural therapies it raises it to 47.1%.
