Caulfield Preparatory, the exciting new line from designer Vincent Flumiani, has set up shop at the Blue Bee Men store on State Street in downtown Santa Barbara. This brand new line, based upon the writings of the designer, has built a special “shop in shop” which is now featured at the store.
Santa Barbara, CA – Caulfield Preparatory, the exciting new line from designer Vincent Flumiani, has set up shop at the Blue Bee Men store on State Street in downtown Santa Barbara. This brand new line, based upon the writings of the designer, has built a special “shop in shop” which is now featured at the store.
Caulfield Preparatory’s first men’s collection, for fall 2009, is based on a story Flumiani wrote about a young man, Finn, who runs away on various adventures around the world. Not unlike the designer’s own past, the hero takes off after school, driving across the country and living out of his car. “I wanted to take classic, preppy clothes like the wool blazer or corduroy suit and make them more rebellious and more rumpled than the originals,” Flumiani explains. “This first collection is Chapter One of my story.”
“We fell in love with this line the minute we saw it,” said Blue Bee co-owner Marty Bebout. “The styling, attention to detail, and preppy-meets-hipster-meets-bohemian look of the shirts, pants, and vests is exactly right for the casual luxury Santa Barbara lifestyle.” Blue Bee is an established Santa Barbara retailer, known throughout the industry as a premier location for California fashion. Women’s Wear Daily recently voted Blue Bee as one of the top 12 denim stores in the country. In DNR, Blue Bee Men was voted one of the 50 most influential men’s stores in the country by a jury of industry specialists.
The display at Blue Bee Men was built by Caulfield Preparatory’s merchandising staff, with the support of the Blue Bee Men store managers and owners. The two teams worked together to ensure that the uniquely high fashion line was displayed as the designer intended. The Fall 2009 line is now available for purchase at the store and on their website, www.bluebeemen.com.

About Caulfield Prep
Designer Vincent Flumiani was born in San Francisco, California. At his father’s insistence, he studied Business Management at the University of California Los Angeles. After graduation and several months of indecision he embarked on a journey of self discovery. His journey took him all around the world, however in 1998 he returned to Los Angeles and began his design career by selling basic sketches. His “basic” designs were initially more successful than his “collection” however he continued to concentrate on collection and in the Fall of 2009 launched Caulfield Preparatory. The life and breadth of the collection is designed to be absorbed and understood. The collection is about personality, courage, risk and emotion. It’s Ivy league with a hint of mutiny.
