New cafe offers vegan raw and living foods using locally grown, organic produce.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / PRURGENT

Revitalive, a raw and living foods wellness center, opens its new Revitalive Café at The Tannery in Newburyport, Massachusetts, on October 16, 2009. The café offers both an in-house and takeout menu of raw and vegan foods that are gluten-free, dairy-free, and animal-products free. All of the food is based on locally grown, organic fruits and vegetables.

"We have been offering raw, vegan food to our clients at the wellness center since we opened our doors," said Revitalive co-founder Anna Forkan, "but clients requested more options. With our new location, we can expand our menu and introduce the delicious, fresh taste of raw, vegan foods to many more people. The Tannery is the perfect location for our café since it is solar powered, has a great recycling program and is home to the Newburyport Farmers’ Market. It ties directly into our mission and vision. Best of all, it's a spot where families gather, and we hope to encourage them to try such healthy, tasty food."

Revitalive Café's menu includes salads, sandwiches, side dishes and smoothies. The owners incorporate as much locally grown organic produce as possible. All recipes are dairy, gluten/wheat, mushroom and animal product-free. Revitalive's chef creates artisan sandwiches using dehydrated “breads” made from sprouted seeds and spices. They do not heat our food above 118 degrees to preserve the food enzymes.

"This is eating as nature intended it," said Kristen Overlock, co-founder of Revitalive. "Raw food is packed with life-giving enzymes, vitamins and minerals that cooking destroys. Food available from Revitalive Café nurtures and restores the body."

The raw, living foods movement has gained momentum in recent years as a way to restore health and energy as well as help people lose weight. Revitalive recommends a raw, vegan diet for optimum health and wellness.

"Revitalive Café continues our mission, and allows us to share our passion for delicious food that's also healing and supports local agriculture," Forkan said. "Revitalive Cafe offers everything to-go so you can integrate raw food easily into your busy life."

Revitalive Café is located at The Tannery, 50 Water Street, Newburyport, Massachusetts. Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m on Sunday.
