Shanghai, China – The 11th Shanghai International Festival is underway and continuing to entertain audiences from Singapore and abroad.

Since mid-October, Shanghai has been transformed to a huge funfest of live music, theatre, dance, and entertainment throughout the city. Locals of Shanghai and foreign audiences are being treated to various performances, forums, exhibits, and other events organized by the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government and hosted by the Ministry of Culture.

An annual event, this year’s Shanghai International Arts Festival features fifty-five stage performances, twenty-seven coming from China and twenty-eight from abroad. The festival opened last October 18, 2009 with a dance line-up which included “Cendrillon-Les Ballet de Monte Carlo.” To date, the festival is featuring an assortment of different theater productions, opera performances, and dance presentations.

As the festivities progress, Shanghai is also preparing the city for the 6th Shanghai International Magic Festival as well as the 1st Shanghai International Puppet Festival both opening on November 5th. Geared mostly towards children, these festivals will feature over ten magic masters from around the globe and will feature some of their most amazing and remarkable tricks.
