The famed Olympic torch relay for the 2010 Winter Olympics got off to a celebratory start on Friday 30th October.

The famed Olympic torch relay for the 2010 Winter Olympics got off to a celebratory start on Friday 30th October, as first torchbearers Catriona Le May Doan and Simon Whitfield, both Olympic gold medallists, raised together the sleek white torch to the sky in front of large crowds at the provincial legislature, before heading off on the flame's 106-day, cross-country odyssey.

Our British hopeful, Chimene "Chemmy" Mary Alcott (born July 10, 1982 in Twickenham) from Great Britain is the current female British number one Alpine Skier. She is an all-round racer, competing in the Downhill, Super G, Classic Combined/Super Combined, Giant Slalom and Slalom events. Alcott has competed in two Winter Olympic Games and six Senior FIS Alpine Ski World Championships. She is currently ranked 53th of the World Cup Start List 2009/ 2010. Support Chemmy on Valentines Day in Whistler this winter and show the Canadians the raw passion of British support.
