FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / PRURGENT

ZURICH, SWITZERLAND – With thousands of travelers from all over the world set to converge on Canada for the 2010 Winter Olympics, the time to book Vancouver hotels is now. As the clock ticks down to the Feb. 12 opening date, hotels are becoming more scarce, say officials at EasyToBook.com.

Although officials at the international online hotel booking company warn availability is waning, they say there are still rooms available for those who act now.

Vancouver hotels and those in nearby communities provide an ideal home base for those wishing to view all or portions of the upcoming games. The Winter Olympics officially opens with a ceremony Feb. 12. The first round of ski jumping takes place prior to the ceremony. From there on out, the schedule is booked solid with events through the Feb. 28 closing ceremony, which follows the men’s gold medal game in hockey.

Many of the events in the winter games will take place at Cypress Mountain, which is located about 30 minutes north of Vancouver. This snowy peak will play host to snowboard and freestyle events, among others. The facilities at Cypress Mountain were recently upgraded by the Vancouver Olympic Committee, or VANOC, for a cost of $16.6 million. On the whole, Canada is expected to spend more than $1.7 billion to host the games, including the costs associated with constructing athletes’ villages.

The games themselves include such sports competitions as alpine skiing, the bobsleigh event, cross-country skiing, figure skating, ice hockey, the biathlon, curling and more. Athletes from an estimated 80 different countries are expected to compete in the games.

While Cypress Mountain will take the spotlight for many events, other venues will also have their time in the sun. Certain events will also take place as the Canada Hockey Place, the Main Media Centre, Olympic Village Vancouver, Olympic Village Whistler, the Pacific Coliseum and the Richmond Olympic Oval.

With thousands expected to attend the games from Canada and abroad, visitors are urged to book their Vancouver hotels as soon as possible. EasyToBook.com stands ready to help travelers secure rooms for the games. Based in Zurich, the company provides a hassle-free way for travelers to locate and book discount hotels in cities all over the world.

EasyToBook.com specializes in finding its clients discount rates on everything from budget hotels to 5-star facilities.
