Demand For Law Enforcement, Forensics, Criminal Justice Professionals Expected to Rise

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / PRURGENT

EVERETT, Wash. – Everest College-Everett today announced that it is adding a two-year criminal justice degree program to its course offering. The field of criminal justice is expected to grow significantly between 2008 and 2018, with increased employment of police officers and detectives by 10 percent, probation officers and correctional treatment specialists by 19 percent and private detectives and investigators by 22 percent, according to projections by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics*. The school has targeted April to launch its Associate of Science in Criminal Justice program.

"The criminal justice field continues to experience steady growth and provide solid career opportunities," said Kim Lothyian, president of the Everett campus. "Everest’s criminal justice program provides a solid educational foundation to pursue a variety of career paths. Our graduates will fill needed criminal justice career roles, and more importantly, strengthen our community as a whole."

The 24-month criminal justice degree program will teach students the necessary skills for entry-level positions in law enforcement**, corrections, security or social work career fields. The program also includes a comprehensive study of the national criminal justice system, correctional organizations and law enforcement agencies.

Everest’s Criminal Justice program include such courses as: Applied Business Law, Criminology, Introduction to Criminal Justice, Criminal Evidence, Criminal Procedure and the Constitution, Criminal Investigations, Criminal Justice Communications, Introduction to Corrections, Introduction to Interviews and Interrogations, and Introduction to Terrorism.

Everest’s Career Services team is dedicated to assisting students in finding employment upon graduation. Career opportunities for a graduate with an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice include entry-level positions in corrections, probation, immigration, security, social services and administration.
