Beverage Company Selects Winner Of Summer Promotion And Declares 79th Grannyism

AUSTIN (October 26, 2011) – Sweet Leaf Tea® is proud to announce that Angela Buraglia of Austin, Texas has been chosen as the winner of the Great Grannyism Cap-Off Contest which was part of the company’s Granny’s Almanac summer promotion. As the winner, Angela Buraglia will have her Granny-approved words of wisdom go down in Sweet Leaf Tea® history, gracing bottle caps as Grannyism #79. In addition, Angela will also receive one year of free tea, as well as some Sweet Leaf Tea® gear including a Grannyism T-shirt, sunglasses, tote bag and other sweet goodies!

The Great Grannyism Cap-Off Contest began in August 2011 and voting submissions took place throughout the summer, with fans choosing from over 3,000 submitted Grannyisms. The winner, Angela Buraglia, won with the entry, “A watched pot never boils.” Offering the opportunity for someone to win a coveted spot alongside the company’s beloved Granny, this promotion looked to inspiration from the people who know the brand the best, the fans. To enter to win, contestants had to write their version of a Grannyism and submit it online at the Granny’s Almanac website, which was created by fellow Austin-based company Springbox. Sweet Leaf Tea® fans and tea-thusiasts across the nation placed their vote for as many Grannyisms as they wanted until voting closed on October 21st, 2011. The Grannyisms with the top votes made it into the final five, from which the Sweet Leaf Tea® team determined the winning Grannyism.

A diehard fan, Angela Buraglia is ecstatic at having her Grannyism immortalized on the bottom of a Sweet Leaf Tea® bottle cap, stating, “The thought that someday my son's kids may turn over cap #79 and my son would tell them about how their granny won a contest just makes me smile.”
