Coming off a viral video from his two-year-old son, Evan Wecksell parlays the momentum into several wrestling podcast appearances and comedy shows.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Los Angeles, CA -- It started innocent enough: a father filmed his child, put the video on Youtube and thought nothing of it. However, two-year-old Beckett Sage's talent of naming twenty World Wrestling Entertainment [WWE] entrance themes in two minutes has attracted many eyeballs.
"The video was at 1,850 views after three days, which was modest, but then the celebrity retweets started, articles popped up and the appearance inquiries came in," recalls Wecksell. "I had to put my career on hold for a few days, because my (and Beckett's) social media stats were skyrocketing and I was trying to keep up with all the press."
WWE took notice by sharing the video with its more than 27 million Facebook and Twitter followers. WWE Superstars Chris Jericho, Sasha Banks, Kendall Skye, alumnus Mick Foley and Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon were among the retweeters and repliers. WWE Chairman Vince McMahon even wrote his own tweet: "Never too young to enjoy WWE. #PG http://youtu.be/oOV9kG4ye0A."
The articles included USA Today, Bleacher Report, Washington Post and even a piece in Spanish by Mexican wrestling site Superluchas.net. Following all the coverage, Evan's family was invited to WWE Headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut where he and Beckett filmed a second theme-identification video. Both the WWE-produced and the original video are both about to pass 400,000 views. Another perk of the trip was the Wecksell clan being able to meet WWE's "Authority" Stephanie McMahon and Triple H.
The internet wrestling community [IWC] also ate up the video, which led to Wecksell's latest tour being supplemented with several wrestling podcast appearances. One such appearance is with Harrell Wrestling Talk who released a statement:
"Harrell Wrestling Talk Network is excited to bring Youtube/WWE sensation Evan Wecksell and Beckett Sage to HWT Podcast! We will be talking about their video, meeting HHH and Stephanie McMahon, playing a theme song game and predict [WWE pay-per-view] Night of Champions!"
While Wecksell had been performing isolated dates over the summer and early fall, this tour features a three-day, three-college stint across Colorado.
Evan also gets reacquainted with Greek Life when he adds a hazing prevention talk onto his comedy show on October 8 at Ripon College in Wisconsin. He will also assist his Theta Chi Fraternity with two USO Fundraisers: first at University of Central Missouri on October 2, and then at Iowa State University on November 11.
