A new book called Pop-Doc helps patients with post-operative care. Nothing has been done like this before. The book and website bridge the gap between physical therapy and orthopedic surgery (post joint surgery). It is intended to motivate and help patients personally strengthen their recovery time during or after physical therapy.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
As an orthopedic surgeon Dr. David T. Neuman knew his patients needed something more after surgery. Operating on them certainly put them on the path to less pain, but he knew the post-operative time was so crucial to their recovery. It’s with that in mind that POP-DOC was born.
This newly released book and website bridges the gap between physical therapy and orthopedic surgery for patients post joint surgery. It is intended to motivate and help patients personally strengthen their recovery time during or after physical therapy. Dr. Neuman says, “For years I have been asked by patients and other medical professionals if there was a comprehensive workbook of sorts that could really help guide patients through exercises that would help with recovery. It simply didn’t exist. I wrote this so patients don’t feel alone or confused about what to do after surgery.” This medical and therapy combination is a first for the fields.
POP-DOC is an easy-to-follow, at-home recovery guide that allows patients to achieve results on their own and focus on other aspects of their lives. Written by both a doctor and physical therapist, Dr. Neuman is an M.D. and FAAOS Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon, and Karena Wu, PT, MS, CSCS and CPI, POP-DOC brings a comprehensive regimen of joint knowledge to the forefront and even helped demonstrate the moves herself for the book. It’s her you’ll see pictured throughout the pages. Wu says “I would show patients certain exercises in the office, but it’s hard for them to truly replicate those moves at home without seeing it firsthand and reading about it step-by-step. This book takes the guess work out of the recovery process by really spelling it out for patients.”
POP-DOC is the first book and website to:
• Offer purchase-of-home exercises that are tailored to begin at a specific time after specific join surgeries.
• Offer a social forum where people can come together and ‘talk’ about their joint pain and/or dysfunction.
• Offer access to the not-for-profit joint health initiative, Jeo-Joint Education Outreach.
• Offer purchase-of-specific home exercises that help people maintain and preserve their joint function.
• Promote a new regimen regarding tips and suggestions to alleviate joint pain by being pre-active.
• Offer a unique business model to medical providers to promote their business, submit blog posts and help their patients in their understanding of joints.
