FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Branford, CT - Tristyn Wooster, a Senior at Branford High School, signed his National Letter of Intent to play lacrosse for the Arizona State University Sun Devils in Tempe, AZ. Arizona State University (ASU) is an emerging west coast powerhouse in lacrosse having made it to the National Tournament the last 8 years, and have been the Southwestern Lacrosse Conference champions 4 of those years. At ASU, Tristyn will be studying in the College of Letters and Sciences, pursuing an interdisciplinary degree of business and science.
The sport of lacrosse is exploding across the country, especially at the D1 level, so to get initially noticed by ASU and many of the other universities that were recruiting him, Tristyn took his lacrosse game on the road. He attended several lacrosse recruitment showcases – earning spots on the All-Star Teams at events in Greensboro, NC; Tampa, FL; and Washington, DC (The East Coast Invitational).
Tristyn is a Captain of the Branford Hornets Lacrosse Team, and has been playing varsity defense for Branford High School since his sophomore year - coached by Head Coach Jim May, Assistant Coach Frank Barron, and Defense Coach Greg Kamedulski. Tristyn started playing lacrosse in 6th grade for Branford Youth Lacrosse, shortly after moving to Connecticut from St. Louis, Missouri. His Branford youth coach, Kevin Meyran, actually taught Tristyn how to play the game. Since 2014, Tristyn has been giving back to the youth lacrosse community by volunteering as a student coach.
Tristyn plays for the Branford Hornets in the Spring, but to make lacrosse a year round sport, Tristyn joined the Connecticut Cardinals club team starting in 2014, playing both Summer and Fall ball. While with the Cardinals, Tristyn played for several coaches including: Coach Frank Barron (also a coach at Branford), Coach Chris Landry of Waterford High School, Coach Paul Deon from Daniel Hand in Madison, and Coach Connor Wells from the Kent School. Thanks to all of his coaches, Tristyn advanced his playing abilities to a point of being noticed by top schools.
Tristyn’s proud parents and biggest fans are David and Machelle Wooster of Branford. He is also cheered on by his two sisters, Eden who is a Branford High School grad (Class of 2014) – now a sophomore at the University of South Florida, and Sutton who is in 8th grade at Walsh Intermediate School in Branford and who is also an accomplished lacrosse player.
