FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Camrose, Alberta, March 27, 2016 – Canadian author Morgan Smith’s novel, Casting in Stone, has been nominated for one of the most well-known and respected awards in speculative fiction.

The Hugos, voted on yearly by thousands of die-hard science fiction and fantasy fans, and awarded at a ceremony at the annual WorldCon, are arguably one of the best-known groups of awards in the genre. This year’s WorldCon will be held in Kansas City, MO, USA, August 17-21, 2016.

Smith has been nominated for Best Novel for her riveting fantasy tale of a woman trying to escape her ill-starred past.

Past winners of Hugos for Best Novel have included Lois McMaster Bujold, Kurt Vonnegut, Ursula LeGuin, and Jim Butcher, all of whom were represented by traditional publishing houses.

“Self-published novels aren’t seen as ‘less-than’ or products of vanity anymore. They’ve really come of age.” Smith says. “But I am bowled over to be nominated in this category beside other, superlative self-published authors and their books - like Aaron-Michael Hall’s “The Rise of Nazil” and Nancy Moors’ “The Black Swans”. It’s really a huge honour.”

Casting in Stone is available as an Ebook through Amazon Kindle for $2.99USD
