FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
New Delhi: Acclaimed South Korean Band ‘Hyunpill Shin & NU-STREAM’ opened the 3rd day of 7th International Jazz Festival 2017’ organized by ICCR at Nehru Park, Chankya Puri, New Delhi. The four member band - SHIN HYUNPILL (Saxophone, Leader), CHON YONGJUN (Piano and Keyboard), KOO KYOJIN (Bass) and SOOJUN KIM (Drums) made perfect harmony to deliver the essence of Korean jazz to the Indian audience.
Rather than arranging and playing the standard jazz numbers to show off his playing skills, Hyunpill Shin has created a jazz album brimming with his own sensibility by composing and producing almost every song. In Korea, where few albums have the sax at center stage, Shin’s solo album Nu-Stream heralds a new stream.
The interesting fact which came in light was that leader of the South Korean band Hyunpill Shin has visited India in 2014 and performed at Korean-Indian Fusion Music Concert Night. Since then, he has continuously collaborated with Indian musicians as organizing a band ‘Hauz Khas Connection’ and is also releasing an album. His recent collaborated performance with Tabla artist Vishal Nagar and Korean traditional music mesmerized Korean audience in a famous music festival held by National Theater of Korea. He is very much interested in exploring further the Indian musical world.
Kim Kum Pyoung – Director of Korean Cultural Centre said that Music is a language which is understood by hearts and has no language barrier and this platform was one of finest example for this. Music helps in strengthening understanding and spreading love and humanity.
Beside Korean band, audience also enjoyed the shows of bands – ‘Rattle & HUM Music Society’ from Nagaland, ‘Si Zu Kong’ from Taiwan and Alaska Snack time from Israel. Altogether 09 countries participated in this musical festival.
