Greek Multi-instrumentalist Exposes Depression in Greece as a Fatal Choice

A Song. A Country. A Plague. How toxic depression poisons Greek society

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / PRURGENT

ATHENS - January 10, 2018: Progressive art rock multi-instrumentalist Oh.'s new single, "Deserted Eyes" reveals the consequences of modern depression as a fatal choice and a means to an end.

Oh.'s award winning music video for the song, "Trials - A Song for a Lost Generation" - gave voice to the lost decade of young adults during the Greek economic crisis.

Her new release, "Deserted Eyes" continues to report how extended periods of dark, depressed and toxic states of mind poison our interpersonal relationships, steal away ambitions, hopes and finally sever the connection to one's soul and sense of self.

The video for "Deserted Eyes" was filmed in Glyfada, a southern suburb of Athens, Greece in the late summer of 2017. During the filming of the video clip for "Deserted Eyes", an oil spill occurred precipitated by the negligence of the Greek government - an ecological disaster in the waters of the Saronikos.

On the last day of filming the beach was covered in oil, dead birds and the stench of petrol in the air.

The oil spill starkly depicted — with the blackening of the earth, toxic fumes, death of wildlife — the irreparable damage to the interpersonal relationships shared everyday by the coastal community and tourists from around the world. During post-production the correlation that tragic event had to the song could not be ignored and the music video depicts the intensity of the shock to our ecosystem.

In the song "Deserted Eyes" dynamic and rhapsodic vocals attempt to summon forth the soul again.

The song warns of the responsibility we all have to not leave our mind unattended, not to let it to settle too long in dark and despondent moods, to be aware how others or external conditions impose their dark agendas on our mental states — casting an immutable spell unwittingly upon us and eventually spreading to those we love.

Is there a way to reverse the spell? "The song "Deserted Eyes" may have an answer.

"Deserted Eyes" is now available for pre-order exclusively on Bandcamp and the music video on Vimeo OnDemand. The single will be available on all streaming services on January 19, 2018.
