Rhythm Superfoods Partners with Milk & Honey Nutrition to Launch National Superfoods Day

Better-For-You Brands & Registered Dietitians Partner to Create the First-Ever National Holiday Dedicated to Superfoods

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / PRURGENT

Austin, TX -- Rhythm Superfoods, an Austin-based company known for creating organic and non-GMO plant-based superfood snacks, has partnered with registered dietitian nutritionist Mary Ellen Phipps of Milk & Honey Nutrition to establish January 16, 2018 as the very first National Superfoods Day. The new annual holiday, which will be celebrated on the third Tuesday of every January, is dedicated to educating consumers on why and how to enjoy and incorporate superfoods in their diets.

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to launch National Superfoods Day with Milk & Honey Nutrition,” said Rhythm Superfoods Co-Founder and CEO Scott Jensen. “Our team has worked hard to position Rhythm Superfoods as a leader in superfood snacking and we are proud to be champions of the superfoods movement – constantly working to better educate consumers on how to incorporate superfoods in their diets in convenient and delicious ways.”

Showing support for the initiative to influence better health through National Superfoods Day, several food brands and over a dozen registered dietitians have joined Rhythm Superfoods and Milk & Honey Nutrition to celebrate and educate consumers about the health benefits of superfoods. Partner brands include:

• Beanitos
• Crazy Richards PB
• Kite Hill
• Lantana
• Love Beets
• Manitoba Milling Co.
• MySuperFoods
• Natural Delights Medjool Dates
• Navitas Organics
• NOKA Organics
• Nourish Snacks
• Purely Elizabeth
• Sunfood Superfoods
• The Natural Citizen
• Tio Gazpacho

“Teaming up with Rhythm Superfoods to create and celebrate National Superfoods Day was a natural choice for me,” said Mary Ellen Phipps, registered dietitian nutritionist, Milk & Honey Nutrition. “I'm always in search of new ways to guide others towards achieving their health goals, and superfoods are an important element to include in our diet as we move towards sustaining and improving our health. It also provides a unique opportunity to show people that a superfood doesn’t have to be something you’ve never heard of or expensive – some of our most common fruits and vegetables are superfoods as well.”

While the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not formally defined the term 'superfood', Rhythm Superfoods and Milk & Honey Nutrition define superfoods as nutrient-dense foods that provide positive nutrition to our diets. Foods such as kale, beets, chickpeas, broccoli, black beans, dates, tomatoes and avocado are all examples of beneficial superfoods known to include nutrients that can boost immunity and may reduce the risk of well-known diseases.
