Canton, MI -- Women leaders will be honored by MichBusiness’ 22nd Annual “Women Thrive Conference” Symposium and Awards program on February 12, 2018 at the MGM Grand Detroit. Registration starts at 9:00 a.m. followed by a lunch. The conference runs until 2:00 p.m.

The event is held to promote high professional standards, encourage leadership, provide education and assure equal advantages for women. More than 500 women are expected to attend. WDIV-TV 4 anchor Rhonda Walker and Carol Cain of CBS62 will emcee the awards presentation.

This year’s honorees represent extraordinary professional women who have excelled in their chosen profession. They include:
• Holly Gilmer MD, St. John Providence
• Carolyn Krieger, CKC Agency
• Monica L. Martinez, Comerica Bank
• Amy Peterson, Rebel Nell
• Carla Walker-Miller, Walker-Miller Energy Services
• Shooting Stars (women under age 40): Evette Griffie, DTE Energy and Margaret Kennedy, PwC.

“Today’s women business leaders need to be recognized for their contributions to our economy and business community,” said Jennifer Kluge, MichBusiness president. “This year our honorees are great examples of how women are making an impact in Michigan and we are pleased to give them the recognition they so richly deserve.”

The program will also include a luncheon inducting women leaders into its Michigan Business Women Hall of Fame. The criteria for this honor are women leaders who have not only had significant business success, many at a global level, but have also made Michigan a better place to live and work through their efforts. Their contributions are significant and will impact future women leaders for generations to come. Many have received other honors, including this program in years past, but their continued success and drive to improve the lives of others entitles them to this induction.
They include:
• Terry Barclay, Inforum
• Florine Mark, The Weight Watchers Group
• Sandra Pierce, The Huntington National Bank
• Carole Valade, Gemini Publications

This year’s keynote speaker is Meryl Davis, local Olympic Ice Dance Champion. The event will also include an interactive session, panelists will discuss “Play to Win”. This panel will explore how sports translates to careers and can drive success in the business world.
