Johnson C. Smith University Awarded $252,465 Campus Consortium Mobile Campus Grant


JCSU is a new urban university rooted in the HBCU tradition and charged with an urgent public mission: to equip a diverse student body through innovative teaching and faculty-mentored and applied research with the knowledge, skills, values, and ethics that will enable them to solve complex problems in a fast-changing global economy.

Campus Consortium, the largest global education association of schools, colleges and universities, awarded Johnson C. Smith University (JCSU) a $252,465 grant to implement a mobile app for students and faculty. JCSU is a new urban university rooted in the HBCU tradition and charged with an urgent public mission: to equip a diverse student body through innovative teaching and faculty-mentored and applied research with the knowledge, skills, values, and ethics that will enable them to solve complex problems in a fast-changing global economy.

Latrelle P. McAllister, Vice President, Administrative Services at Johnson C. Smith University, spoke about the support, stating, “Johnson C. Smith University is delighted to receive Campus Consortium’s grant. These funds will enhance our facilities by providing students with a mobile app that is bound to streamline or simplify processes students can have difficulty navigating. A well-thought out mobile app will go a long way in attracting and retaining today’s students and employees.”

The Campus Consortium grant will enable Johnson C. Smith University to build an official mobile app through the technology provider Unifyed. The mobile app will consist of 14 basic applets like Campus News, Emergency Numbers, Campus Events, Social Media, Parking, Dinning etc. In addition, it will also feature Unifyed Applets for LMS, Academic, Financial Aid and Unifyed Campus Bulletin Board, What’s Up.

“This mobile app solution provides out of the box integration and increases engagement, in addition to the beauty of adding new features on the go. We believe this will be a great opportunity for Johnson C.
