Hales Sand and Gravel won two Quality in Construction Awards for asphalt pavement from NAPA (National Asphalt Pavement Association) in February.
“I am extremely proud of my team members for their hard work and for putting safety first while completing each project,” Jeff Collard, Hales Sand and Gravel General Manager said. “They kept safety and quality as their top priority.”
Hales Sand and Gravel received one award for their work on US 50 in Millard County. Hales Sand and Gravel worked cautiously during rough weather conditions to solve any potential problems before they occurred. Hales Sand and Gravel successfully produced a smooth, high quality pavement using cold-in-place recycling.
Hales Sand and Gravel also won for a mill and overlay project on approximately seven miles of SR 132 in Sanpete County. Additional work included a lane-level overlay, pedestrian ramps, and curb and gutter. This project won incentives for smoothness, mix properties and density. It also received an Award of Merit from the Engineering News Record (ENR) in 2017.
“The asphalt pavement industry is committed to building high-quality projects that deliver superior performance to the traveling public,” Dan Gallagher, 2017 NAPA Chairman said in a press release. “All contractors’ projects earning a Quality in Construction award are measured against best practices designed to live up to that commitment. Earning the Quality in Construction Award demonstrates that Hales Sand & Gravel has met or exceeded these rigorous standards.”
