Fewer than 300 companies were named to the list from a pool that included thousands of applicants.
"This award is a testament to the values we've engrained into our culture here at the law firm," said Lawrence J. Buckfire, president and lead trial attorney. "It’s something we've managed to maintain and continuously refine over the last 50 years."
The award is the result of a wide-ranging and comprehensive measurement of private companies who have created exceptional workplaces through vibrant cultures, deep employee engagement and stellar benefits.
Inc. Magazine previously named Buckfire Law to its annual list of the nation's 5,000 fastest-growing companies. The firm ranked among the top 25 fastest-growing private companies in metro Detroit.
Inc. assessed applicants on the basis of benefits offered and employees’ responses to a 30-question survey fielded by each of the applying companies. Responses were evaluated by the research team at Quantum Workplace.
“By introducing an employee survey into this year’s Best Workplaces selection process, we’ve really raised the bar," Inc. Editor In Chief Eric Schurenberg said. "Companies that don’t score at the very top of their peer group don’t make the cut. So, our hats are off to the winners.

For its results to qualify, Buckfire & Buckfire, P.C. had to achieve a statistically significant response rate based on its employee count in order for the firm's results to qualify.
Survey scores account for employer size to level the playing field between small and large businesses. All companies had to have minimum of 10 employees and to be U.S.-based, privately held, and independent—that is, not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies.
