FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / PRURGENT

Owners Jason and Fran Dowd officially launched their new business “Gladdy’s Goodies”, a natural dog treat company, on June 1, 2018. Their goal is to provide natural and healthy treats for dogs that are nutritious while fitting into strict dietary constraints for dogs with health issues.

Gladdy’s Goodies started out from a tragedy in the life of the Dowd family. In February 2018 two of his beloved dogs were sick and hospitalized the same day. Ali, his bichon frise, was rushed to the ER with pancreatitis and liver failure. Gladys, his dachshund, went to the vet ER as well suffering from an acute pancreatitis attack. Sadly a month later Ali would pass away from the liver failure and Gladys has chronic pancreatitis which will never go away.

Trying to find out why Ali and Gladys got sick, Dowd tried to look back to see if anything had changed. The only thing each one had in common and different from a general routine was a treat. Dowd read the back of the package to see how incredibly bad these treats were. The treats had 8g of saturated fat and 16g of crude fat plus one of the listed ingredients was ethylene glycol better known as antifreeze. Ali at these everyday for a month and Gladys ate it one day before she got sick but received 2 treats. The antifreeze killed Ali’s liver and the combo of fats and antifreeze almost killed Gladdy.

Gladdy was placed on a strict low fat diet with no fillers, chemicals or additives and the pet stores just didn’t have a snack to fit those requirements. The alternative was to make them and that is when Gladdy’s Goodies was born.

The concept of Gladdy’s Goodies is simple: make natural healthy dog treats that are low in fat with no fillers, chemicals, byproducts or harmful ingredients that both healthy dogs and dogs with health issues can eat without concern and be nutritious for them.
They’ve developed a line of flavors that dogs have gone crazy over which include: turkey, chicken, beef, salmon and sweet potato. All the flavors come natural while you can get herb infused versions as well. Those herb infusions are herbs that are safe for dogs while also providing medicinal like actions for your dog like controlling bad breath, digestive help, and other medicinal like qualities. They are not medicine nor proven to treat these conditions, but they have been known to help ease the condition in pets.

Despite being new the owners feel very passionately about helping out their community. They pledge to donate time, product and money to worthy causes and get out inside the community. They will act as an advocate against animal abuse and promote adopting and rescuing especially senior animals.

The lessons Dowd learned from this mess are being used to help other animals avoid the fate his two dogs were dealt. He plans to use his company to educate those who have pets to the dangers some human consumed foods can be, the importance of knowing what’s in our dog’s food and treats and how we can keep our fur friends healthy.
Gladdy’s Goodies currently is an online only venue. People can buy their treats and dog/cat merchandise like collars, bowls, toys and more online and have them shipped anywhere in Canada and the United States. They take all major credit cards and bitcoin as payments. A brick and mortar storefront is a goal for Gladdy’s Goodies owners in the perceivable future.

“Our treats are healthy and fun for your dog. We haven’t run into a dog that hasn’t loved them yet and that makes this all worthwhile. I look forward to our growth and development along the way and I want to ensure what happened to Gladdy and Ali will eventually cease because of consumer awareness” says Dowd.
