OLC+DW, a strategic alliance between Ohlson Lavoie Collaborative and Davis Wince, Ltd. Architecture announces three new projects to its portfolio: The Lake Nona Center for Well-Being in Lake Nona, Florida; Parc Hill, a new senior living facility in the Parc Hill community in Orange City, Florida; and the major renovation at the Oviedo YMCA Family Center in Oviedo, Florida.

These projects continue the momentum of OLC+DW’s unique approach it calls “Healthy Urbanism™” integrative health design that promotes and encourages wellness in built environments for hospital systems, colleges and universities, master planned communities, senior living facilities, independent health and fitness facilities.

On the Lake Nona Center for Well-being project, OLC+DW is bringing its expertise from multiple medical wellness projects across the globe to help realize what has been referred to as “the world’s most sophisticated wellness community” by the Global Wellness Institute. The 280,000 square foot state-of-the-art performance, wellness, and medically integrated fitness facility features atypical attributes and opportunities to serve users of all ages and abilities from people new to fitness, to those who need medical support and to experienced athletes.

“Designing for such a wide use of consumers is where the excitement and the challenges begin,” said Hervey Lavoie, F-MFA, NCARB, OLC+DW. “Our design team blends retail and medical design strategies so all users feel welcome, comfortable and motivated to get, and stay healthy.”

The Parc Hill new senior living facility currently in design by OLC+DW will incorporate the firm’s fresh, award-winning design approaches that anticipate changing market demands for a highly educated, consumer-savvy and longer living older generation. For this project, OLC+DW draws its experience in the planning and design of multiple senior-related housing, rehabilitation and healthcare projects, many in partnership with national development partners including NexCore Group and Meridian Senior Living.

OLC+DW recently completed an extensive renovation to the family-oriented wellness center in Oviedo for The YMCA of Central Florida with improvements to the lobby, child development area, activity and support areas. The project also included enlarged and spacious locker rooms for both men’s, women’s and family changing.

The OLC+DW approach to Healthy Urbanism™ bridges consumer-forward design with the practical needs of providers to deliver services to healthy and health-needy customers. “Our passion is helping health-related clients support new models of care that dismantle departments and silos for effective team-based care in shared-use facilities that eliminate duplicity at every opportunity,” said Philip “Buck” Wince, LEED? AP, OLC+DW.

Recent national and international OLC+DW Healthy Urbanism™ projects include: Esmeralda Sports and Leisure Center in King Abdullah Economic City in Saudi Arabia; Meridian Walnut Crossing Senior Living in partnership with NexCore Group in Marysville, Ohio; MC Fitness & Health, medically integrated fitness and ambulatory campus in Lewis Center, Ohio; Culture Works, five-story wellness facility in Tokyo; and The University of Wyoming’s “Half-Acre” Recreation and Wellness Center in Laramie, Wyoming.
