The Way to Happiness volunteers clean up the Adopted Mile of the Pinellas Trail in Clearwater taking action to protect and safeguard and improve the environment.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / PRURGENT
Clearwater, FL - On Saturday January 12th, The Way to Happiness Association Tampa Bay volunteer team is tackling the ongoing littering issue with the next bi-monthly litter pickup on their adopted mile of the Pinellas Trail. Volunteers will remove dangerous and harmful substances and will dispose of them properly to prevent harm to the environment and the trail.
Simply put, litter is a piece of waste that has been thrown away at inappropriate locations. To curb that, The Way to Happiness volunteers are helping to transform their communities, improving the environment, and creating beauty along the Pinellas Trail.
By Florida Statutes littering is punishable even leading to imprisonment and for convictions involving littering from a motor vehicle, a penalty of three points will be recorded on the violator’s driver’s license.
“Littering is the result of individual attitudes not foreseeing the consequences of the harmful effects this has on the environment,” said Ms. Tanja Cranton, Executive Director of The Way to Happiness Association Tampa Bay. “We are dedicated to raising awareness and taking action and cleaning up the environment so as to help our community,”
L. Ron Hubbard wrote in his book, The Way to Happiness: “Care of the Planet begins in one’s own front yard. It extends through the area one travels to get to school or work. It covers such places as where one picnics or one goes on vacation. The litter which messes up the terrain and water supply, the dead brush which invites fire, these are things one need not contribute to and which, in otherwise idle moments, one can do something about.”
The next cleanup of the adopted mile of the Pinellas Trail is on Saturday, January 12th 2019. Volunteers will meet at 10:30am at The Way to Happiness Center at 33 N. Fort Harrison Ave, Clearwater FL 33755. Community members are invited to participate. For more information, call (727) 467-6961.
