Ars Musica Chorale presents The Magic of Opera

The performance will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at West Side Presbyterian Church, Ridgewood, New Jersey.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / PRURGENT

Ars Musica Chorale continues its 53rd season with The Magic of Opera: choruses and arias from operas by Mozart, Verdi, Puccini, and Wagner, including The Magic Flute, Carmen, Roméo et Juliette, and the Triumphal March from Aida. The performance will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at West Side Presbyterian Church, Ridgewood, New Jersey.

Imagine a performance of all your favorite opera arias and choruses performed in a single concert! Ars Musica’s 70 voices, together with our stellar vocal soloists, will take you on a dramatic, musical journey through the greatest opera numbers, featuring tales of love, death, dancing, drinking, abandonment, and celebration.

You’ll enjoy powerful choruses from Wagner’s Die Meistersinger and Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette. Mezzo soprano Allison Gish will take on the role of Carmen in movements from Bizet’s famous take on the gypsy story. Tenor Chad Kranak and soprano Allison Wamser will present devastatingly powerful accounts of loss and desolation in Tchaikovsky’s Lenski’s Aria and Puccini’s Vissi D’arte. Laura Kosar will charm and delight with her coquettish rendition of the aria, Je veux vivre from Roméo et Juliette, while Paul An adds his bass-baritone finesse in the role of Capulet. The ensemble will also sing numbers from the Magic Flute and Verdi’s Rigoletto. The evening is rounded out by the splendid Triumphal March from Verdi’s Aida.

The chorus is accompanied by renowned organist, David Enlow, professor at the Juilliard School. He will transform the organ into a full-fledged symphony orchestra with just two hands and two feet. Music director and conductor, James Kennerley, will narrate throughout the program, and accompany the solos on the piano.

Advance tickets are $25.00 for adults and $20.00 for seniors and those with special needs. (Add $5.00 if purchased at the door.) Children under 18 are free. For reservations or more information, visit www.arsmusica.org or call the Ars Musica Chorale at (551) 226-9305.
