Peterborough, FEBRUARY 25th, 2019?—D’Avekki Studios has today announced a special live stream of the critically acclaimed and Guinness World Record breaking FMV game ‘The Infectious Madness of Doctor Dekker’.

Originally released in 2017, the game tasked players with solving the murder of psychiatrist Doctor Dekker by typing questions to obtain video responses from his patients. The upcoming broadcast will take the form of a prequel set before the psychiatrist’s death and will star actor Bibi Lucille as Eve, a brand new patient with an original problem requiring treatment.

The event will be streamed live via the developer’s Twitch channel from 6pm GMT on 9th March 2019. During the broadcast, which is expected to last 60–90 minutes, followers of the channel will be able to type questions in chat in a bid to to diagnose and treat Eve’s supernatural ailment, while the patient’s responses will be wholly improvised.

“Interest in interactive fiction has been growing massively so we’re really excited to experiment with this live format,” said D’Avekki Studios director, Tim Cowles. “In particular, we’re keen to explore the balance between pre-scripted narrative and player agency, and to further break apart the illusion of choice.”

The Infectious Madness of Doctor Dekker was released on Steam in 2017 and published a year later on Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch by Wales Interactive. It currently holds the Guinness World Record for most Full Motion Video in a videogame.

Husband-and-wife-run company D’Avekki Studios has been making murder mystery dinner party games since 2004 and more recently achieved critical success with FMV titles The Infectious Madness of Doctor Dekker and The Shapeshifting Detective.
