Wichita Falls, TX -- Lonny D. Morrison has been selected as one of five 2019 recipients of the Texas Bar Foundation’s Outstanding 50 Year Lawyer Award. The award recognizes attorneys whose practice has spanned 50 years or more and who adhere to the highest principles and traditions of the legal profession and service to the public.
Lonny Morrison is a lawyer, a rancher, an oil and gas investor, and an active entrepreneur. He holds a J.D. from the University of Texas, an MBA from Oklahoma State University, a B.A. in economics from Washburn University and an Associate of Arts degree from Cameron State Agricultural Jr. College (now Cameron University).
Lonny is a former President of the State Bar of Texas, the principal draftsman of the Texas Rules of Disciplinary Procedure, and he was the first Chair of the Texas Commission for Lawyer Discipline. He is the only lawyer, ever, to twice receive the Presidents’ Award, the highest award of the State Bar of Texas to a member for service to the profession and to the public.
Lonny is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, the Texas Bar Foundation and the American Bar Foundation.
He and Dottie, also an attorney, are major contributors to the President’s Excellence Club at Midwestern State University, the Dottie M. and Lonny D. Morrison Endowed Scholarship for Excellence at the UT Law School and an Endowed Scholarship at Cameron created by his National Jr. College Championship football team
The Bar Foundation commissioned an oral history to recognize and preserve the accomplishments of Mr. Morrison’s legal career. Additionally, he will be publicly recognized at the Texas Bar Foundation Annual Dinner held on June 14, 2019 at the JW Marriott in Austin.
