Baltimore, Maryland (17 October 2019) - More than 70 college alumni engagement industry professionals gathered last Thursday for the first ever Social Media Conference on Alumni Engagement, held at The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD.

There were more than 18 educational institutions from across the country, including Brown, Towson University, Bishop O'Connell High School, and Temple University, represented at the conference.

The event featured speakers presenting on a variety of topics ranging from the current state of social media use in alumni development and engagement, to using bots and Taylor Swift to engage with alumni, to nurturing students from matriculation to graduation to create deeply-engaged alumni.

Attendees participated in two expert-led discussion panels, where school alumni engagement and development officers and higher education marketing professionals shared some of their best practices first-hand. Additionally, there was an afternoon workshop dedicated to identifying and resolving universal issues alumni engagement departments face on a daily basis.

“I thought the conference was a powerful experience,” said Nicole Ward, Director of Account Management at SocialToaster and workshop leader. “Everyone was really engaged with the speakers over the course of the day. The best part of the whole experience was the connection we all made with each other. It was great to see people sharing stories and helpful tactics to more deeply engage with their alumni. Seeing that, being a part of that, was something I have never experienced at a conference before.

Sponsors for SMCAE 2019 included The Johns Hopkins University, SocialToaster, idfive, GiveCampus, Treble Network, and Pixilated.
