New Children's Book Release - How To Teach Your Elephant To Sit: A Book About Managing Anxiety.

How To Teach Your Elephant To Sit: A Book About Managing Anxiety is a new children's book released today, March 1st, 2024. This is an important release, as resources for children's mental health is woefully under-represented in the market. The book focuses on teaching children how to manage big feelings/anxiety, and the skills taught are a critical part of helping kids develop coping tools.

How To Teach Your Elephant To Sit is a children’s book for kids ages 5-8. It’s a broad introduction on how children can make space for anxiety and big feelings.

The goal is for children to learn how to allow anxious feelings to be present without allowing them to be control. They can feel the emotions and still do what they want and need to do.

George the Elephant helps younger kids grasp the understanding of accepting their anxiety and committing to living on their own terms no matter what they’re feeling.
Early Reviews:

"This story was all about Reagan and her struggle with her anxiety. As I read through the book, I could so accurately feel what Reagan was feeling when her feelings became too big and consumed her whole with no place to go. As a person with a pretty big battle with anxiety and panic attacks since childhood, I was able to relate so well with Reagan. I love how the author showed us exactly how Reagan was feeling and then introduced some strategies little by little for her to use to try and manage the anxiety. By naming her big feelings and then actively addressing them in a developmentally appropriate way, Reagan was able to be so brave and begin to manage her big feelings. This was a great story and a perfect introduction to little ones about how to start addressing their big feelings and communicating their needs when the feelings got to be too much." - Hanna B.
“I love the examples in the book…the times where those anxiety feelings come out for kids…I think this will help readers understand the connection between the elephant representing anxiety." - Nancy A.
“I have an elephant too, Mama. I didn’t know everyone has one. I will have to teach my elephant how to behave too” Audrey, age 7 “This children’s book was well written in a relatable way for all early school age children to understand. It was beautifully written in a relaxed and comical way for children to relate and learn to identify their anxiety as well separate themselves as individuals from their anxieties and learn to overcome “big feelings”. Well done!” Christin Y.
