Rancho Cucamonga State of the City Address Draws Resident Interest on Growth, Infrastructure, and Community Issues
City Council candidate David VanGorden, who is running against incumbent Kristine Scott, says residents are hoping key local concerns will be addressed, including Etiwanda Heights and Hamilton Family Brewery
Rancho Cucamonga Mayor Dennis Michael is scheduled to deliver the City’s upcoming State of the City address (April 16th), an annual event that provides an opportunity to reflect on recent progress and outline priorities for the future.
As the event approaches, Rancho Cucamonga City Council candidate David VanGorden says many residents are paying close attention, particularly as conversations around growth, infrastructure, and neighborhood impacts continue across the community.
“The State of the City is an opportunity for residents to hear directly from city leadership,” VanGorden said. “It’s also a chance to address the questions people are already asking.”
A Time to Reflect — and Address Community Questions
The State of the City address traditionally highlights economic development, city achievements, and long-term planning initiatives.
At the same time, local discussions have increasingly focused on how growth is being managed and how it is affecting infrastructure and quality of life.
Among the topics residents have been discussing:
- the pace of housing development across Rancho Cucamonga
- traffic and infrastructure capacity
- the proposed expansion of the Etiwanda Heights project
- neighborhood concerns related to Hamilton Family Brewery
VanGorden says these conversations reflect a broader interest in how planning decisions are made and communicated.
“Growth can bring opportunity, but it also raises important questions about infrastructure and long-term planning,” he said. “Residents want to understand how these decisions are impacting their daily lives.”
What Residents Are Hoping to Hear
VanGorden noted that many residents are looking to the State of the City address for clarity on specific local issues.
“I hope Mayor Dennis Michael addresses the situations regarding Hamilton Family Brewery and Etiwanda Heights,” VanGorden said. “These are topics people are already talking about, and it would be helpful to hear how they are being approached.”
He emphasized that raising these topics is about awareness and understanding, not criticism.
“These are common-sense questions,” he added. “And when residents are asking them, it’s a sign that people care about their community.”
Encouraging Community Engagement
VanGorden encouraged residents to stay informed and engaged as Rancho Cucamonga continues to grow.
“Whether someone agrees or disagrees on a particular issue, what matters is that people are paying attention and asking questions,” he said.
He added that informed residents play an important role in shaping the city’s future.
Continuing the Conversation
VanGorden will be discussing development, infrastructure, and community concerns at upcoming meetings, including the April 7 California Republican Assembly (CRA) meeting in Rancho Cucamonga.
