ChargePapa has completed a six-vehicle CCS1 charging adapter guide series covering the BMW i4, Mercedes EQS/EQE, Polestar 2/3, VW ID.4, Lucid Air, and Rivian R1T/R1S — with J1772 compatibility, DC fast charging limits, and Tesla Supercharger adapter requi
ChargePapa has published four new vehicle-specific EV charging adapter guides covering the BMW i4, Mercedes EQS and EQE, Polestar 2 and 3, and Volkswagen ID.4 — completing a six-vehicle CCS1 series that also includes guides for the Lucid Air and Rivian R1T/R1S.
CCS1 is the dominant DC fast charging connector for non-Tesla EVs in North America, used by BMW, Mercedes, Volkswagen, Polestar, Rivian, Lucid, and most other manufacturers. CCS1 ports are backward compatible with J1772 Level 2 connectors, meaning no adapter is needed for home or public Level 2 charging. For Tesla Supercharger access, CCS1 vehicles require a NACS-to-CCS1 adapter except at stations equipped with Tesla's built-in Magic Dock adapter.
Each guide covers connector type by model year, DC fast charging speed ceiling, onboard AC charger rating, Level 2 circuit sizing under NEC Article 625, Tesla Supercharger access conditions, adapter current and voltage requirements, and full charging network compatibility.
BMW i4: Accepts up to 200 kW DC on eDrive35 and eDrive40 trims, and 210 kW on the M50. Pre-2025 CCS1 models require a NACS-to-CCS1 adapter rated for at least 200A for standard Supercharger cable access. Mercedes EQS and EQE: The EQS accepts up to 200 kW DC and the EQE up to 170 kW across all sedan and SUV variants. Pre-2025 models require a NACS-to-CCS1 adapter rated for 200A or higher. The ChargePapa DC-Link NACS to CCS1 Adapter (SKU CPCADA0030) covers all six vehicles in the series. Rated for 500A and 1000V DC with a maximum throughput of 350 kW — above the Polestar 3's 250 kW DC ceiling. The adapter features an IP65-rated housing for outdoor use and a UL94 V-0 flame-rated thermoplastic shell. ChargePapa maintains close relationships with its manufacturing partners, enabling continuous spec optimisation and tighter quality control without distributor markup — delivering higher-spec products at more competitive price points.
