KIMS-SUNSHINE Hospitals Opens Advanced Cobotic Microscope for Neurosurgery

KIMS Sunshine Hospital, Begumpet, has launched the advanced ZEISS KINEVO 900 robotic microscope, enhancing precision, safety, and outcomes in complex brain and spine surgeries through cutting-edge imaging and cobotic technology.

ZEISS KINEVO 900 technology to enhance surgical accuracy and outcomes in complex brain and spine procedures

Hyderabad, April 16, 2026: KIMS Sunshine Hospital, Begumpet, has announced the introduction of the advanced ZEISS KINEVO 900 robotic microscope, marking a significant milestone in precision-driven neurosurgery. The state-of-the-art technology is designed to improve surgical safety, accuracy, and patient outcomes, particularly in complex brain and spine procedures.

The announcement was made during a press interaction held at the hospital on Thursday. The facility was inaugurated by Dr. A. V. Gurava Reddy, Chairman of Sunshine Bone & Joint Institute and Managing Director of KIMS Sunshine Hospitals. The event brought together leading specialists and healthcare professionals who discussed the transformative role of advanced imaging and collaborative robotic technology in modern neurosurgery.

The ZEISS KINEVO 900 combines robotics, high-definition imaging, and intelligent features to support surgeons during intricate procedures. Based on the concept of collaborative robotics, or cobotics, the system enables enhanced precision and greater control. Features such as PointLock and Position Memory help maintain focus on delicate surgical areas, while the robotic arm provides smooth and stable movement, allowing surgeons to work efficiently in confined spaces and reducing fatigue during lengthy procedures.

The platform also incorporates advanced imaging technologies, including ICG fluorescence imaging, which enables real-time visualization of blood flow and is especially beneficial in vascular neurosurgery. Tumor fluorescence capabilities help distinguish tumor tissue from healthy brain tissue, contributing to safer and more precise tumor removal. Additionally, 3D and 4K visualization provide exceptional clarity during surgery, while the QEVO micro-inspection tool allows surgeons to view hidden anatomical structures and further enhance surgical precision.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Naveen Mehrotra, Senior Consultant Neurosurgeon, highlighted the impact of cobotic technology in improving patient outcomes. Dr. C. H. Gopal emphasized the importance of advanced imaging in diagnosis and treatment planning. Doctors including Dr. Mohana Shashank DeeviDr. Vinod Kumar, and Dr. Niveditha Sai Chandra also participated and shared insights on adopting cutting-edge technologies to deliver world-class patient care.

"The introduction of the ZEISS KINEVO 900 reflects our commitment to bringing globally advanced technologies to patients and empowering surgeons with tools that enhance precision, safety, and clinical outcomes," said a spokesperson from KIMS Sunshine Hospitals.

KIMS Sunshine Hospitals continues to strengthen its position as a leading healthcare institution by investing in innovation and advanced medical infrastructure. With a strong focus on clinical excellence and patient-centered care, the hospital remains committed to delivering world-class treatment and improving the quality of healthcare services for the community.
