Adult & Pediatric Dermatology recognizes Rosacea Awareness Month by encouraging Queens residents to seek evaluation for persistent facial redness, helping distinguish rosacea from acne or sensitive skin.

FOREST HILLS, NY – In recognition of Rosacea Awareness Month, Adult & Pediatric Dermatology is encouraging Queens residents to seek evaluation for persistent facial redness, flushing, or acne-like bumps, noting that rosacea is often mistaken for acne or sensitive skin and requires a different treatment approach.
Rosacea is a chronic skin condition that commonly causes facial redness, visible blood vessels, flushing, and inflammatory bumps on the cheeks, nose, chin, and forehead. Symptoms may worsen with triggers such as sun exposure, hot weather, spicy foods, alcohol, emotional stress, and hot beverages. Identifying individual triggers can help patients better manage flare-ups alongside medical treatment.
Because rosacea can resemble other skin conditions, the practice recommends a professional dermatologic evaluation before beginning treatment. Depending on the patient's symptoms, care may include prescription topical medications, oral medications, or laser treatments to reduce persistent redness and visible blood vessels.
"Many people believe ongoing facial redness is simply sensitive skin, but rosacea can often be managed once it is properly diagnosed," said Aleksey Babakhanov, FNP, Adult & Pediatric Dermatology. "An evaluation helps identify the condition and determine the most appropriate treatment plan."
Adult & Pediatric Dermatology provides medical dermatology services for children and adults throughout Forest Hills, Rego Park, and surrounding Queens communities. New patients are welcome.
