BARCELONA, Spain, August 2026: Vianédita, a documentary travel project based in Barcelona, has released its debut short film, a 26-minute documentary shot entirely in the Ebro Delta, along with a companion travel guide built on the same route.
“We didn't want to make another list of the top five spots in the region,” said Anna Chizhova, co-founder of Vianédita.
“We wanted to show why those spots matter, through the people who built them.”
The film follows the people who keep the Delta running rather than the sights that draw tourists there. A third-generation family raises mussels and oysters on the same waters their grandparents worked. A miller runs a 19th-century rice mill by hand. A local brewer spent twelve years developing an oyster stout that ages on the seafloor. None of them address the camera. No narrator is directing the viewer's attention: the people on screen tell the story at their own pace.
The Ebro Delta is one of the largest river deltas in the Mediterranean and home to hundreds of bird species, including flamingos nesting on former salt flats. It is also disappearing. Dams upstream have cut off the sediment that once rebuilt the coastline each year, and the Delta is losing ground to the sea at a rate of roughly seven meters a year. The film treats this as part of the place, not a separate issue: the same families adapting their trades are the ones watching the coastline shrink.
Vianédita describes its format as documentary travel direction: each episode becomes the source material for a paid guide rather than a marketing reel. The Delta del Ebro guide, priced at 14 euros, maps the same three-day route filmed for the episode, with 41 locations selected by the team behind the film. It is the first release in a series that will continue through other regions of Catalonia and Europe.
The full film is available on YouTube with English subtitles.
